I tend to tolerate some loss of shape (given that I can usually rectify) with things that spend a fair bit of time in the mail, but don't tolerate scratches, pressing defects and the like on new records. Managed to salvage it in the end using a few cycles in the Vinyl Flat. One turned up from the UK a week or two ago that was bent like a banana - I am positive that it didn't depart the seller like that as packaging was really good. Living here so far from anywhere, dealing with warped records here is a necessary skill unfortunately if records spend any time in the mail network. You should be able to get a reasonable set-up dialed in on a Pro-ject turntable IMHO, I can only assume you have that. Needing a heavier stylus pickup is also nonsense in my view. I sure wouldn't be using a quarter on the tonearm to try and rectify the problem though - shouldn't need that at all with a good set-up. I wouldn't know that), based on my experience with various turntable arms/cartridges/stylus profiles over the years where some combinations have tracked way better than others, and as my ability to set up a cartridge accurately has improved - there is something in what they are saying as there are a whole heap of variables involved in getting a record to play back at its best, problem is that there is no way they can know if there is a problem with your particular set up or not. Additionally, this record is sonically more bass heavy, so with an all in one system, the bass can bump the stylus off track. If you have an all-in-one set-up like the one in your video, this pressing will likely not play well because of lack of weight/down-force on the stylus. This record was mastered 'loud' meaning it requires a heavier stylus setup to track well consistently. VMP's explanation for the lock was this: "Thanks for reaching out and I apologize for the issues here! You could try adding weight to your stylus such as a quarter to see if that helps it track better. I've recently bought the repress of the VMP Demon Days red vinyl – among other issues like scratches and warps, I also have the locked groove on 'All Alone' (over three copies – I bought two, and one had already been replaced).
